Step by step, you’ll gain confidence in constructing smooth, organic curves and translating visual inspiration into fabric.
Once complete, you will have a beautifully pieced toucan design, finishing at approximately 16" x 20".

Strategies, Tools, and Techniques for Precision Piecing
 and Mounting Quilts on Canvas

Dates:
Fri. Aug. 22, 10 am - 5 pm
Sat. Aug 23, 10 am - 5 pm

Place:
Sarasota Community Church
4041 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota, FL 34232

Max Class size: 20
MEMBERS ONLY UNTIL May 31st
Cost: $100
Description: Boost the precision in your piecing! Learn how to evaluate a project before you begin to develop a piecing strategy and identify any special considerations. Plus, see how small decisions about fabric, thread, needles, pressing, and more add up to make a big impact on the end result. Students will complete a class exercise that features curved piecing and partials seams.
Mounting quilts on canvas can transform small works, adding an air of sophistication and gravitas to a piece. It's also a great technique for mid-size quilts. During this workshop, the class exercise from the precision piecing workshop will be mounted onto an artist's canvas using Kelly's technique that creates sharp, clean corners. You'll go home with a work of art ready to hand on the wall!
